SDG&E’S LINEWORKER SCHOLARSHIP
PAVES THE WAY FOR A REWARDING CAREER
At SDG&E, we’re building a stronger, more prosperous future —
one connection at a time. Through our Economic Prosperity
grant initiative, we awarded nearly $1 million in grants to 30+
organizations in 2024, fostering business development and
workforce training. As part of this commitment, our Lineworker
Assistant Scholarship Program is providing aspiring lineworkers
with the training needed to launch a fulfilling career in the
energy industry.
Lineworkers are the backbone of our energy infrastructure —
working day and night to maintain and repair power lines that
bring reliable electricity to people across SDG&E’s service
territory. But as demand for skilled trades continues to grow, the
need for new, well-trained lineworkers has never been greater.
That’s why SDG&E, in partnership with Northwest Lineman
College (NLC), provides industry-leading education for future
utility professionals while helping to remove financial barriers.
Scholarship recipients enroll in NLC’s 15-week Electrical
Lineworker Program, gaining hands-on skills and safety training.
By supporting aspiring lineworkers, SDG&E is investing in a
future where reliable energy and economic opportunity go hand
in hand. The scholarship program not only helps individuals
build fulfilling careers but also strengthens our local workforce,
ensuring that the next generation of energy professionals is
capable of meeting the challenges ahead.
