Inspiring Future Leaders
EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION
OF LATINA LEADERS
At SDG&E, we believe in the power of mentorship, education
and community support. Through our Inspiring Future Leaders
grant initiative, we are championing nonprofit organizations that
improve access to science, technology, engineering and math
(STEM) education. In 2024, 50+ organizations were awarded
close to $1 million in grants to help develop the next generation.
For nearly 30 years, we have proudly partnered with MANA de
San Diego (MANASD) to uplift and empower Latinas through
programs that foster leadership, confidence and career success.
One of the most impactful collaborations is our support of the
Hermanitas Program, which provides Latina middle and high
school students with one-on-one mentorship from successful
women who have walked similar paths.
Our commitment extends to college students through the
#BeThatGirl mentorship program, where women who work
at SDG&E help guide young women pursuing careers in STEM.
This initiative fosters lasting relationships, ensuring students
“SDG&E has been with us for almost three decades.
Not only do they invest funds, but their employees
volunteer and participate in our programs. And they
often hire our participants.”
— Dr. Inez Gonzalez Perezchica, Executive Director, MANASD
receive the guidance and encouragement they need to
transition from the classroom to career.
Beyond mentorship, SDG&E employees actively support
MANASD through clothing drives, advocacy and fundraising
for scholarships.
By connecting students with role models who inspire them to dream
bigger and achieve more, we are helping to inspire the next generation
of Latina leaders.
